Luca Fabio Giacometti
30 years of experience in Private Equity and as a SPAC promoter
After graduating in International Finance at the Bocconi University in 1985, Luca began his career at the Italian branch of Citibank in the Syndications Dept and Leveraged Capital Group, where he had the opportunity to finance the first MBOs and LBOs in Italy. In 1991 Luca moved to Banca Commerciale Italiana, now Banca Intesa, as deputy director for Private Equity, M&A and IPOs in the new established Merchant Banking Dept.
In 1996 Luca was appointed Managing Director in Italy for the Private Equity business of General Electric Group, GE Capital PE, to whom Luca had sold Nuovo Pignone in an M&A deal in 1994. In 2003 Luca was appointed by Ferrero Group to establish and manage Nutequity, a PE fund with Ferrero Group as a sponsor. After this experience Luca moved to USA where he learnt about Spac. In 2011 Luca listed at AIM Milan the first Italian Spac, Made in Italy 1 (now SESA S.p.A. after the Business Combination), in 2014 IPO Challenger (now Italian Wine Brands S.p.A.), in 2015 Glenalta Food (now Orsero S.p.A.) and in 2017 Glenalta, still looking for a Target to finance.
He has been a Member of the Board of Directors at Digital Magics since April 2012, the largest Italian venture incubator for innovative start-ups listed on the AIM market of the Italian Stock Exchange, and he has been a Senior adviser for Italy since 2007 of the European fund of funds Capital Dynamics.
He is an active volunteer at Pane Quotidiano, an onlus that daily distributes food to thousands of poors in Milan.
He lives in Milan and has 2 daughters.
